As the the Assistant Accountant (Recognised Brand) based from Farnborough, Hampshire you will be responsible for:
This is a broad role primarily responsible for the internal financial operation and reporting for the National Sales Companies in the UK and Ireland, and supporting key transformation projects. Working across the Finance department, wider business, and with the network, the role provides a great overview of the financial results and operational finance processes.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure delivery of high quality financial reporting and accounting packages (including disclosures), in accordance with IFRS and the Group Chart of Accounts, are made on time t. This includes both actuals and forecast/budget submissions, and conversion of the local reporting output into the Group Reporting formats.
- Support the month-end closing processes for the UK and Ireland NSC's to ensure that all accounting entries are processed and manual entries are made, where required.
- Daily review and maintenance of the Accounting inbox to ensure internal business and external retailer queries are dealt with in a timely manner. Always maintain a high level of service to partners and avoid the escalation of topics.
- Ensure that data integrity between key Finance systems is monitored and maintained to ensure timely and accurate recording of entries in financial accounting systems.
- Co-ordinate system transaction processing to ensure it is managed effectively and reflected accurately and completely in the general ledger. Evaluate and recommend process improvements to rectify internal control weaknesses identified and ensure robust systems are maintained, mitigating the risk of audit recommendations made both internally and externally.
- Prepare monthly control accounts and system interface reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate recording of entries in financial accounting systems. Follow-up over-aged items with the relevant business owner.
- Collaborate with business and IT partners to ensure that finance considerations are implemented correctly within projects, and act as a Finance SME for entries in financial systems.
- Support the Finance department with significant transformation projects (e.g. Future Sales Model, Group Finance Backbone).
- Part qualified (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CIMA, AAT), or Qualified by experience
- Varied Accounting experience
- Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
- Strong Excel and system skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at different levels within Group and externally.
- Ability to handle pressure whilst prioritising multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- You can be studying for an Accountancy Qualification but its not essential
- Salary £35,000 - £40,000
