Business Development Consultant

We are Mantra Learning, the UK’s leading Logistics learning and development organisation. Mantra has supported the skills needs of the logistics sector for over 54 years and is an Ofsted rated grade 2 independent training provider. The Manchester site is well established as the largest specialist logistics training facility in the UK.

Our organisation provides training for people at all levels, from supporting individuals to gain work to developing senior managers. We also strive to improve learners’ life prosects by offering programmes such as mental health and wellbeing, digital skills, English and Maths.

Through our three key brands of Mantra, Job Gym and The National Logistics Academy and utilising several different types of government funding that we have successfully secured, we help thousands of learners each year to gain new skills. This creates a talent pipeline that supports the long-term growth of industry, while also enhancing career prospects and the progression opportunities for our learners.

We work with some of the biggest brands in the country, including Aldi, Wincanton and AO, delivering approximately 500 Apprenticeships, over 2500 Large Goods Vehicle licences and 1,100 Forklift Truck licences each year. The organisation is dedicated to deliver interventions that develop the ‘Skills, Knowledge and Behaviors to enable learners to thrive in life and work’.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Consultant to join our team. This position is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours a week based in Middleton, Greater Manchester.

The Role

The primary focus of the role will be to build relationships with local garage owners and managers to increase the sales of automotive apprenticeships targeted at the automotive sectors and commercial offerings.

This job will include relationship management of a portfolio of existing customers, and new business development activity enabling new customers. The role will also encompass looking for commercial sales opportunities to satisfy short term business objectives, identifying, contacting, building productive business relationships with companies that are potential future customers of Mantra Learning Ltd.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake Business Needs Analysis to identify customer requirements.
  • Proactively seek to increase levels of business, training activity and customer engagement
  • Carry out market research, competitor, and customer surveys.
  • Promote Mantra Learning and ensure we have an excellent reputation for delivering great customer service.
  • Accurate use of Mantra Learnings CRM system to develop and maintain employer relationships (existing and new clients) and maximise all opportunities.
  • Achieve agreed sales performance targets and company behaviour ‘Key Performance Indicators’ (KPIs).
  • Monitor and reporting on activities and provide relevant sales information.
  • Cross sell other products, seizing all opportunities to offer clients a well-rounded service.
  • Working with the Marketing Manager to execute telemarketing, e-shots and marketing campaigns to potential new customers.
  • Support to other duties and projects as requested by the automotive Manager linked to providing an outstanding service to our employers.
  • Promote a ‘one team ethos’ across the business.

Qualifications Essential Criteria

  • Educated to NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
  • L2 Maths and English minimum qualifications

Experience Essential Criteria

  • Sales experience, with a proven history of delivering excellent and sustainable results and working to sales objectives, targets and deadlines. Results orientated.
  • Some knowledge of the automotive sector
  • Highly motivated with effective time management skills, including good organisational skills with attention to detail, and ability to use own initiative.
  • Highly professional with excellent presentation and communication skills to all stakeholders
  • Effective at handling customer complaints
  • Experience of working in fast changing working environment
  • Experience of using a customer database
  • Contributes to continuous improvement within the department and your team.
  • Positive attitude
  • Punctual and reliable
  • High level of cultural awareness/sensitivity towards employees and customers.
  • Accepts feedback on performance and seeks to improve.
  • Good digital skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Driving licence essential

Experience Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge and/or experience of working within the education sector.
  • Previous automotive sales experience

  • £24,000 to £26,000 per annum DOE, plus opportunity for excellent commission earnings
