• Prepare, cook, and serve food in accordance with standardized recipes while ensuring the most economical use of provisions
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness within the department, including personal hygiene, and ensure that equipment is cleaned properly and 'fit for use by the start of the next shift
• Provide information to various stakeholders on food service including recipes, ingredients, and allergen information
• Undertake surveys or audits as necessary (e.g., customer satisfaction)
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and safe working practices, reporting any issues to the person in charge
• Take a lead role in chef theatre cooking, special and theme menus
• Provide patients with special diets and communicate with dieticians, ward staff, and housekeepers
• Order provisions as necessary in the absence of the person in charge

• Significant experience in catering environments producing for large numbers
• City & Guilds NVQ 3 in Cookery or equivalent for the Catering Industry
• Food Safety Certificate Level 2
• Allergen Level 2 Training
• Ability to work on own initiative and produce high standards of work in a pressurized environment
• Excellent communication skills
