Job Description

Band 7/8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist for Home Treatment teams in South Essex Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) is one of the biggest Mental Health and Community NHS Foundation Trusts in the country.

We have an interesting and exciting opportunity for a PART OR FULL TIME Band 8a Clinical or Counselling or Forensic Psychologist to join and lead on psychological services provision in two multidisciplinary Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams in the south of Essex (Basildon and Rochford).

We offer flexible approaches to workforce provision. There is an option for those interested in ACT approaches to combine this with 2 sessions per week of ACT training for staff in our staff values and resilience training initiative called ACT4NHS. Candidates who would like a split post with another adult specialty may be considered for a variety of other part time posts in the area to accommodate this where available. Please contact us to hear about options available if this is of interest.

As the team psychologist working in home treatment, your role will primarily involve assessments and short-term psychological intervention, as well as training and consultation for and with colleagues. The team are very friendly and approachable, with a positive attitude towards psychology; you will sit within the team and be involved in sharing psychological knowledge and offer reflective practice. Risk is shared as a team and not held by one person. You will also have opportunity to liaise with our own services and partner organisations in the community, working in a transforming system and helping shape cohesive interventions in primary and specialist care.

The successful applicant will join a wider team of Psychologists and will work closely with Psychologists in the Inpatient and community services in South Essex. EPUT places great importance on cross boundary working so that the needs of the service user are prioritised. We are in the process of developing new models that involve a bigger emphasis on the critical period between transition out of hospital and coping with life in the community; so you will have the opportunity to work with other leads to consider service development and strategy. You will also play a part in the development of the Emergency Response and Crisis Care Pathway which is part of the ongoing transformation of mental health services across Essex.

EPUT are looking for motivated staff who shares our Trust values of Care, Learn and Empower. In return, EPUT can offer you a range of benefits and development including;

  • Excellent Training facilities and opportunities
  • Buying and Selling annual leave scheme
  • The opportunity to work bank shifts and expand knowledge and experience in other areas
  • Salary Sacrifice schemes including lease cars and Cycle to Work
  • Day One Flexible Employer
The Trust supports and actively encourages flexible working for all employees. We offer many options and you are encouraged to ask the recruiting manager what is possible for this role. If appointed, you will have the opportunity to apply for a flexible working request from the first day of your employment
