Defence Digital Commercial (DDCmrcl) is the core team responsible for delivering outstanding value for Defence across its exploitation of digital and information technologies. We are responsible for a large portfolio of complex contracts worth £2bn a year. We operate across five category teams:
Networks The Networks Category sources and manages contracts which provide fixed data and voice capabilities, together with mobile and radio services managed by Defence Digital for services across Defence.
IT Hardware & Services The Hardware & Services category procures the supply and management of the MOD’s enterprise IT in both fixed (UK and overseas) and deployed environments, high grade messaging and medium and high threat gateways.
Military Technology The Military Technology Category procures a diverse range of Digital Defence equipment such as Military Satellites, Battlefield & Tactical Communication & Information Systems and nuclear response warning systems.
Software & Cloud - supports Defence Digital through, Cloud and Hosting Services, Digital Foundry Artificial Intelligence Centre, Mission Information Exploitation, Pan MOD Software Enterprise Agreements, Cyber and Crypt Key.
Professional Services Procures all external resource requirements across Defence Digital. From Strategy Consultancy to Individual contractors including staff augmentation and all delivery support.
The positions are advertised at 37 hours per week.
We currently have roles available within the category teams listed below. Further opportunities in other teams may arise during this campaign and therefore candidates may be appointed to an alternative category.
Software - Cyber
Joining the Cyber Commercial team within Defence Digital has never been so important – the work you do will have a meaningful impact on the current world stage and live operations. The Cyber Commercial team support the MoD’s Cyber Programmes (Defensive Cyber Operations, Cyber Resilience Programme and Digital Identity for Defence) as well as wider Cyber activities, which all substantially reduce MoD’s Cyber risk, protect critical asset and systems, and develop a cyber aware workforce that will allow MoD to make cyber security part of the DNA of its business and operations. The role of Senior Commercial Manager includes the following:
Undertake activities within all parts of the Procurement life-cycle from pre-market engagement, through sourcing and contract management and closure.
Contribute to the development, update and implementing of a market facing category strategy. Undertaking a market assessment and building on a clear understanding of historical and forecast spend along with future technical strategies to ensure that there is an effective route to market for sourcing.
Deliver effective stakeholder engagement and management, working closely with the other IT category teams within Defence Digital Commercial, program and project staff (as part of an integrated team), the Cabinet Office, suppliers and other functional experts.
Bring high-quality contract management, ensuring that key contract artefacts are all in place, contract performance and change is managed effectively, to ensure ongoing value and service quality standards are delivered.
Identify commercial risks, ensuring mitigation and management steps have been put in place and are monitored.
The identification and delivery of targeted savings and benefits both cashable and non-cashable.
Enhance the focus on continuous improvement, contribute to and develop an attitude of challenging inefficient or ineffective processes at all tiers of the organisation.
Significant procurement expertise and experience in defining and executing procurement, from pre-market engagement through to contract award and the onboarding of successful suppliers, using agreed tools and systems.
Build effective relationships with current and future suppliers, enabling the market to better understand our requirements and ensuring that we build healthy, competitive competitions that deliver the right solutions at competitive prices.
Participate in maintaining an inclusive culture and a working environment where the diverse skills and talents of all are recognised, developed and valued.
Candidates are required to have CIPS level 4 or to commit to working towards this qualification as part of their role.
These posts are advertised as 37 hours per week.
All posts are full time equivalent. There may be opportunities for part time candidates if a job share partnership can be established, subject to full time hours being achievable for the role in question.
