About Our Client

A world-renowned law firm for high net worth individuals, they use bespoke strategic solutions to make the law work for our clients in substantial and complex legal cases. We typically act for UHNW individuals on high-profile and law-changing cases.

My client is now looking for a Legal Credit Controller to join their team on a permanent basis, based in London.

Job Description

  • Review engagement with clients, and review outstanding fees and manage debt recovery in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Contact clients who have outstanding legal fees via phone, mail or email to inform them of their outstanding debts.
  • Review the file to identify possible reason for non-payment, any complaints made and offer payment plan options to help customers settle their outstanding fees.
  • Negotiate payment terms and offer and agree with customers programmes.
  • Identify and deal with vulnerable customers and escalate matters to support teams.
  • Issuing civil proceedings against non-paying customers and dealing with enforcement, in conjunction with Counsel when necessary.
  • Service of court orders to recover outstanding payments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions and payment plans.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner, work with our complaints officer on this.
  • Manage graduate trainees as part of their debt recovery training seat.
  • Manage cases proceeding through the courts, working with counsel where required.

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in debt collection, civil litigation or related fields.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong understanding of debt collection laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
