We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced data Manager who will work as an integral part of the team facilitating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) research, respiratory research experience is desired but not essential.
Data management is required to develop the existing databases further and to create new databases for studies in set up. The post holder will liaise with the other members of team at Imperial and other satellite sites, as well as co-investigators to clean the datasets received and align them to be consistent with the existing datasets. They will be responsible for designing the structure of those datasets, and also checking on the integrity and quality of received data. You will be responsible for the storage of the data and being compliant with best practice and the requirements of the ethical committees and other data regulators. You will maintain excellent communication with the collaborating centres and Imperial staff. The primary activities of this position are the management of research data, creation of data sets for investigators, performing data quality assurance checks, creation of new summary variables for analysis, and creation of data tables for reports and papers.
The role will require demonstrable expertise in writing and in using data management packages, such as SAS, STATA, R. Some programming experience is advantageous.
Your key responsibilities will be to create and maintain a data management plan for all the different studies you will be working on. You will manage the studies’ electronical record form (eCRF) databases and aid in the creation of new eCRFs. Collaborate with other members of the team when creating reports that require datasets, enrolment figures, follow up numbers. You will be expected to work with other member of the team to aid in the preparation of presentations for meetings with the stakeholders. You will also be expected to prepare reports for the management committee, ethics committee and research sponsors. You will be responsible for managing the introduction of new systems to users and provide support as necessary. You will be expected to ensure the validity, reliability, and provenance of data at all times. The post holder will be required to maintain highly organised, up to date and faithful records. To conduct data analysis, ensure the accuracy, validity, completeness and reliability for day-to-day planning, scheduling, carrying out research in accordance with project goals.
