Job Description

Contract Delivery Lead
Flexible Location: London Marylebone, Birmingham Moor Street/Hybrid

The Contract Delivery Lead will play a key role in ensuring Chiltern continue to operate in a way that’s compliant with the terms of our National Rail Contract (NRC), which is the contract between Chiltern and the Department for Transport (DfT). The role sits within the Business Planning team at Chiltern, meaning you will engage regularly with the DfT, internal colleagues across various departments, and other industry partners. You will be required to respond to colleagues’ queries on Chiltern’s contractual documents and establish robust processes to safeguard business continuity.

The Contract Delivery Lead will be expected to develop a detailed and robust understanding of all contractual and regulatory requirements affecting Chiltern and be able to produce material on these for colleagues that’s clear and easy to understand. You should be someone who takes pride in being highly organised and works with a fine eye for detail. Being able to communicate well is also crucial to this role given the wide range of internal and external stakeholders you will engage with. The Business Planning environment is varied and fast-moving and you will also benefit from being adaptable and able to contribute to different workstreams and challenges facing the team as required.

The Contract Delivery Lead role is a great opportunity for someone who has experience working with legal and contractual documents and an understanding of the structure of the rail industry. You might be someone who’s education has given them a good understanding of this type of documentation, or someone who’s previous work experience has often required you to digest complex written information. You could be someone ambitious working in the railway sector in a similar role, but in a large team without as much individual responsibility.

Maintaining an organised and accurate record of key documentation including the NRC, Leases, Station Access Agreements, Handover Pack etc

Supporting internal colleagues in ensuring compliance with industry regulations and Network Rail requirements

Working with the NRC Administrator to ensure that all contractual obligations are completed on-time

Building a strong relationship with DfT colleagues and representing Chiltern and its interests in an effective and collaborative manner

Deputise for the Client Relations & Strategic Delivery Manager in contractual matters
Ability to interpret complex legal and contractual documents and communicate clearly the meaning and implications of them to colleagues

Understanding of the interactions between Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and other industry organisations and regulatory bodies

Demonstrable experience of managing document libraries in a logical and organised manner

Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships

Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
