Job Title: DevOps Project Engineer (Software)

Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid 1-2 days in the office a week)

Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)

Day Rate: £600 (Outside IR35)

We are seeking a highly skilled and specialized DevOps Project Engineer (Software) to join our team in the In House Support function within the Met. As a DevOps Project Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new mapping, hosting, and networking solutions in the In House Support infrastructure platform for various projects such as CONNECT, C&C, MetIP 2.0 programmes, and other desktop applications. In addition, you will support changes to existing infrastructure and networking to enable DR, business continuity, and end-user functionality changes and improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and implement new mapping, hosting, and networking solutions in the In House Support infrastructure platform for various projects.
  • Support changes to existing infrastructure and networking to enable DR, business continuity, and end-user functionality changes and improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve infrastructure and network-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, standard operating procedures, and system configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in Mapping and Geoservices solutions, Linux, Openstack, Operating System Virtualization, Linux scripting, system configuration, and deployment languages, Jenkins, Atlassian Suite, Cisco routers, F5 Network Security, TCP/IP Networking, Ubuntu, OpenNMS, Openstack, FreeIPA, SSL, LDAP, Azure Networking, HyperV, Firewall security, Database technology, and Cybersecurity.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment, with a focus on automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a complex, high-pressure environment.
