Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Environmental Engineering Team provides a service to all Space Imaging, RF Power and other Teledyne companies in performing a range of mechanical tests, including vibration, mechanical shock, structural analysis, packaging assessment and climatic tests including thermal, humidity, altitude and salt spray. These tests form part of design proving, qualification approval or may be part of the routine testing of Teledyne-e2v products. The following responsibilities are required of an Environmental Engineer:

  • Ensure compliance to all Health and Safety requirements and conform to best practices related to Health and Safety within the team.
  • Ensure compliance of processes and best practice to deliver successful engineering governance and gate reviews.
  • Oversee & be responsible for environmental engineering ensuring the correct execution to relevant standards (e.g MIL-STD, DEF-STD, BS-EN) & within defined specifications of the environmental tests.
  • Support of the design and manufacture of jigs for mechanical and thermal testing.
  • Capture, analysis, reporting and presentation of test data.
  • Review test plans to ensure requirements align to standards and that we have the capability to perform the testing.
  • Planning for and ensuring that equipment is in current calibration & conforms to all relevant safety standards.
  • Assist in ensuring timely return of test items and supporting equipment to ‘customers’. Working with the team to ensure all equipment and test items to be maintained and calibrated in a compliant and safe environment.
  • Responsible and accountable for maintaining throughput of work to ensure on-time and quality testing.
  • To liaise with internal & external customers.
  • Attend meetings to represent the work carried by the Environmental Engineering group.
  • Be proactive in developing new ideas, systems and processes, with a constant view of continuous improvement.
  • Providing support and feedback to the design team after performing surveys of the mechanical interface jigs.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in engineering or science or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Good technical understanding of product testing in a laboratory or industrial environment.
  • Experience reviewing and delivering against technical and project requirements.
  • Good communication both written and verbally.
  • A positive outlook with a "can do" attitude and an ability to challenge and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to multi-task on several assignments and complete all to a high standard, with a high degree of energy to deliver on commitments.
  • Good team player with the ability to work effectively with team members of varying personalities and abilities and independently as well.
