Job Description
The BHT Education Fellow post is a unique and exciting opportunity which combines clinical work with an educational role aimed at developing undergraduate and postgraduate education in BHT. It is a one year, usually non-training, fixed term post for prospective candidates who have at a
minimum completed the Foundation Programme and would be suitable for candidates of any grade above FY2 up to pre-CCT.
The post holder would work with the Director of Medical Education, the Undergraduate Director of Medical Education and Undergraduate and Postgraduate Faculty to develop teaching at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Time would be split between undergraduate teaching (both developing teaching with service leads and directly delivering teaching), as well as continuing to develop the foundation teaching programme and supporting foundation doctors to develop their teaching skills.
The post holder would split their time equally between their base clinical speciality and education role. As part of the role a qualification in medical education would be funded. There are also opportunities to attain membership to the Academy of Medical Educators and apply for a Honorary Lectureship of a University.

Duties of the Education Fellow post holder
The main teaching duties of the post holder are to support the delivery of the Trust’s high quality medical education including the development, delivery and evaluation of courses in undergraduate (with students from Oxford University, St George’s and University of Buckingham) and postgraduate medical education and related activities.
The other half of the job will allow continued clinical exposure in the candidate’s base speciality. We are currently offering clinical posts based in Anaesthetics, Burns & Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Medicine for Older People, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Urology and Orthopaedics (although other specialities would be possible)
