Job Description
The Acute Medical Unit is a diagnostic & emergency treatment unit within acute medicine with a varied workload.
We pride ourselves on having an integrated friendly & welcoming team made up of Allied health professionals including Doctors, Nurses & Therapists. We work closely with all the departments and areas within the hospital including with our colleagues from Accident and Emergency, our ambulatory care team & all the ward staff. We currently assess/triage & admit patients with acute medical conditions from a variety of sources – including GPs, the Emergency Department & Outpatients Clinics.
We are looking for experienced Health Care Assistants, hospital experience is desirable but not essential. A minimum of NVQ2 two in health and social care or the equivalent.
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Induction course, which will include all the Trust statutory/Mandatory training to join our team inviting them to share their knowledge and experience with the ward; you will need to be motivated and committed to high standards of patient care & personal professional development.
We will provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship and clinical supervision on the ward & are committed to professional development of all staff. Team working is an integral part of both wards with all staff enabled & empowered to make a real difference for their patients.
The Health Care Assistant (Band 2) is a member of the care team who will support Registered Practitioner in the delivery of routine patient care. The Health Care Assistant will undertake a broad range of care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Practitioner. The Health care Assistant (Band 2) will also work closely and under supervision of the Health Care Assistant (Band 3) and where relevant Associate Practitioners
