Job Description

Consultant in Paediatrics with specialist interest in Community Paediatrics/Neuro-Disability (1 Year Maternity Cover)

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Consultant in Community Paediatrics/Neurodisability. This post will provide exciting opportunities to make a real difference to the care of children of York and North Yorkshire.

The Trust is seeking a highly motivated individual to directly influence both service delivery and the future development plans for the Paediatric services locally.

A key driver is to improve the overall patient experience and this is focused around providing a high quality, safe, responsive and coordinated service within the local and regional health area. The service is therefore looking to appoint an individual who has vision and drive combined with a passion for caring for children, to work in York and surrounding areas.

It is expected that the successful applicant will have relevant training and experience in community paediatrics and/or paediatric neuro-disability.

The Community Paediatric Service is supported by 6 consultants, a specialty doctor, community and specialist nursing teams and Allied Health Professionals.

The surrounding area of North Yorkshire is one of the most attractive in England and offers opportunities for city, costal or rural living. There are excellent options for schooling at all levels throughout the region.

The successful applicant will undertake paediatric neuro-disability clinics within the children's outpatients department at York, and in local special schools. There may be opportunities to undertake clinics in other locations, such as Scarborough, Malton and Tadcaster. There will be opportunities for the successful applicant to develop any areas of special interest within the field of community paediatrics. The role may include providing IHA medicals for children living within the local area.

This post does not include any out of hours work and is a full time post (10 PA) but those wishing to work less than full time are also encouraged to apply.
