Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer/ Manager

Location: West Midlands, United Kingdom

Salary: £45,000 to £65,000
This job is also available on a fixed term contract basis at a negotiable rate.



We are currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer/ Manager to join our team and work on projects with Severn Trent Water, one of the UK's leading water companies. As a Mechanical Project Engineer/ Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions for water and wastewater projects. You will also ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a mechanical engineering team to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including project schedules, budgets, and risk management plans.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
  • Identify and manage project risks, ensuring that mitigation plans are in place and contingency plans are developed.
  • Ensure that all mechanical engineering designs are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and compliant with relevant standards.
  • Manage the procurement of mechanical equipment, ensuring that all equipment meets the project requirements and is delivered on time.
  • Manage and review the work of contractors, ensuring that quality and safety standards are met.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the mechanical engineering team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering design and project management, preferably in the water or wastewater industry.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and implement project plans, manage project budgets, and identify and manage project risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and contractors.
  • Experience managing and reviewing the work of contractors.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
