The Position: We are looking for a full time Modern Slavery and Vulnerable Communities Advisor to be part of our Neighbourhood Partnership Team based out of Lowestoft. The role will include working alongside internal staff and partner organisations to support the Constabulary in delivering against key local and national strategies aligned to Modern Slavery and Vulnerable Communities. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively to protect vulnerable persons, prevent exploitation and provide guidance and advice to operational teams in the pursuance and diversion of offenders. It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Good working knowledge of policy and process, including local protocol, in relation to modern slavery with the ability to interpret and apply relevant guidance
  • Experience of working with vulnerable persons and/or communities
  • Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders, understanding their needs and concerns, demonstrating good team working skills
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to identify cause and effect and develop a course of action designed to target root causes as well as manage impacts
  • Possess good time management skills with the ability to prioritise and plan own workload
  • Skilled in the use of standard IT packages, systems and/or databases to fulfil role requirement
  • Ability to attend and pass a one-day DDE training course at the College of Policing and Police National Database (PND) training course
  • Ability to travel throughout the County as required

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a good working knowledge of issues affecting vulnerable communities with an understanding of available support agencies and referral pathways
  • Experience of working in a multi- agency environment

Hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
