Job Description

We are looking for an Experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team at Basildon Pitsea Hospital.

About us:
Our practice is conveniently located inside Pets at Home store with free onsite parking, on Old Market Retail Park, Pitsea.

You will be joining a supportive team consisting of 14 Vets, 9 RVNs, 10 SVNs, 7 VCAs, 12 Non-clinical staff (Receptionists and Client Care Advisors) and a Practice Manager.
Our practice offers MRI and hydrotherapy services in house which will be a first for any Vets4Pets hospital!

We already offer a high variety of clinical services such as Cardiology, ECC, exotics, soft tissue, orthopaedics, neurology, ophthalmology etc. and have a large and loyal client base.

Just some of your responsibilities are listed below:
Work closely with the wider clinical and non-clinical teams to deliver timely and effective patient and customer care for all
Some first line manager responsibility for members of the nursing team
Lead the team of nursing colleagues to achieve the best levels of patient and customer care possible
Assist with driving the nursing team to consistently perform at their highest ability and demonstrate ownership of their actions
Encourage ongoing development and areas of suggested improvement to the nursing team
Bereavement handling – offer physical and emotional assistance to clients in sensitive situations. Support team members in this communication to customers, where appropriate (i.e. unforeseen difficulties during an operation)
Complete full clinical notes for all patients cared for

About you:
We are looking for someone with a Medical bias as this role will be responsible for all required nursing and clinical duties to be completed each day.
We are looking for someone preferably with previous leadership experience, already a clinical coach or happy to become one as we are a nurse training practice.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, promote forward thinking, and have a natural initiative approach.
The role is 4 days a week with 1 in 4 weekend.
