AUTHORITY LEVELS:
· To cease the operation if injury, damage or environmental issue is imminent.
· Carry out operations relating to the Inspection department.
· The release of conforming or concession approved manufactured products.
· To refer to customer specifications for guidance on non-conformance corrective actions.
· Maintain and develop the Company quality systems.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Inspection Officer reports directly to the Inspection Chargehand. The Darlaston facility produces high quality steel and iron wear resistant castings for various markets totalling approximately £6M per annum.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position purpose is to develop an environment of continuous improvement in the Inspection department maintaining the focus on achieving targets and all key performance indicators.
The incumbent will provide motivation and development for all members of his team and ensure that the operation is conducted in a safe, environmentally responsible, efficient manner.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004.
· Compliance with the Norican 8 Step Safety Plan.
· Compliance with Environmental Policies & Procedures.
· Ensure compliance with all required quality standards & specifications.
· Carry out casting dimensional inspections and generate reports.
· Suggest recommendations from inspection reports.
· Generate detailed AfterCast Processing Instructions for internal use.
· Inspect products to ensure Customer conformity is achieved.
· Informal and formal communication with Management / Supervisors.
· Maintain accurate and detailed production records as required.
· Ensure equipment is maintained and is correctly used and in a safe, efficient manner.
· Ensure compliance with all required standards and specifications.
· To liaise with other Departmental Supervision & Management as and when required.
· To support the maintenance of the quality system and documentation.
· To provide documentation for internal and external requirements, including customer concerns.
· To undertake system audits of internal quality procedures as required.
· Support audits undertaken by accredited bodies.
· To be responsible for the tracking and management of the NCR & CFR systems.
· Management of the internal calibration system
· To be responsible for the document control, quality statistics and work instructions.
· Dealing with supplier non-conformances
