Location – Barnsley


An exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our engineering team working on a portfolio of engineering projects for various clients including our Environment Agency MEICA & Civils frameworks as well as our Canals & Rivers Trust M&E Maintenance framework.


Business Unit

A busy and fast paced business unit involved in a range of civil engineering works on behalf of various clients delivering engineering maintenance and infrastructure on a portfolio of civil engineering, E&P, Mechanical & Electrical and highways framework projects for a variety of key clients.


The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will form an integral part of the commercial team supporting Commercial Managers and Operational project delivery teams, in the daily commercial management of multiple civil engineering projects within our portfolio of projects.


The purpose of this role is to contribute to profitable performance through the successful commercial and financial management within the specialised Engineering business unit.


Day to day responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Leading the commercial management of multiple sites on time and to budget.
  • Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time,
  • Resolving pricing issues with clients
  • Client Liaison
  • Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day to day remits,
  • Subcontractor management
  • Change management and early warnings
  • Contract administration (NEC/NR forms of contract)
  • CVR’s
  • Final accounting.
  • Close liaison with the client on all commercial matters, including preparation and submission of supporting information.


Requirements

To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or progressive Quantity Surveyor looking to make the next step up in your career, with multi-disciplinary engineering experience across civils, rail, and M&E projects/packages of work.

  • Be degree qualified and hold membership with RICS or ICES similar OR hold compensating experience
  • Have experience of working within a contracting environment
  • Have multi-disciplinary engineering experience across rail, civils, M&E projects or frameworks.
  • Be IT literate in MS Office applications
  • Hold good communication, interpersonal and team management skills
