Several short term roles have become available within our Medway School Services department for seasonal temp work in August and September 2023.
Please ensure you read through the dates/times outlined below and please only apply if you can fully commit to this schedule. Finish times will vary depending on workload, must be flexible.
Dates required:
Face to face Training Day: 30/08/2023
· 7-11 Aug (10-4pm)
· 14-18 Aug (10-4pm)
· 21-25 Aug (10-4pm)
· 4-8 Sept (10-4pm)
· 12 September (10-5pm)
· 13 September (10-6pm)
· 16 Sept at a Test Venue 7.30 - no later than 3pm
· 17 Sept at Gun Wharf (10-5pm) Finish time is unpredictable subject to how much we pack/unpack per day/test day but no later than 6pm.
The successful candidate must declare:
· They do not know of any child sitting the Medway test this year.
· They are not a governor or associated to any school in Medway, Kent or Bexley.
· They are not a tutor, or has tutored before or plans to tutor in any subject area including sport and music in the future.
· Language requirement: English
Additional Info
Dress code: Casual clothes for cool weather. (The room is hot with 2 fans and no windows.) I am not against shorts and trainers. (the task is very hot work with heavy lifting work, lots of counting and packing into many mailing bags and envelopes.)
Food and drink: Lunch, drinks and snacks are not provided. Please bring your own. Lunch is 30 mins between 12-2pm – your choice. Lots of short breaks between tasks are encouraged.
Paper timesheet: For our audit purposes temp will be asked to complete timesheets
Tasks are:
· Move boxes of booklets from secure store to packing room and back into store
· Open boxes of booklets and count in batches (up to a total of 4500 booklets across 79 separate test venues)
· Pack booklets into envelopes and mailing bags to make up test packs
· Quality assurance tasks throughout the packing and unpacking stages
· Pack test packs into secure store
· Help setup and breakdown packing materials at start and end of each day
· Tick off test packs and test papers received on test day in a timely and accurate order.
Rules for the packing room:
· Do not put yourself at risk by being on your own with any test papers.
· No eating and drinking in the packing room.
· No nail polish on fingernails (colour can transfer onto test papers).
· Please ensure you have clean hands at all times whilst handling test papers. (sanitiser is provided)
· No music and chatting is kept to a minimum whilst packing. A quiet environment is more helpful for counting!
16 September:
· A customer facing role (‘Test Marshal’) at a test venue – likely to be Parkwood Primary School - from 7.30 until no later than 3pm.
· Dress code: Smart casual, no perfume, noisy shoes, noisy jewellery, slogan t-shirts, gym/sportswear (can be a distraction to candidates) Temp will be in contact with Year 6 children, parents, school staff and SLT.
Temp will not be able to be left alone with a child. The role the temp will be doing on this day does not involve being alone with a child. Main Task will be to walk around the test area in the test venue making checks instructed by the Test Lead.
17 September:
· An administrator role on at Gun Wharf from 10am to no later than 6pm help unpack 2700 test papers and pack 8000 test papers for return to test provider the following day.
Dress code: Smart casual, no slogan t-shirts, gym/sportswear. Temp will be in contact with school staff, teachers and SLT.
There are no children on this site for said day.
