Please note this is a fixed term opportunity for a period of 12 months. This role may require you to work at the Essex Records Office, Chelmsford on a rotational basis.
Overview
The Registration Service in Essex is one of the largest authorities in the country, and is responsible for registering Essex citizen’s life events, including births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships, and citizenship ceremonies. The Registration Service has a duty to meet Essex County Council’s (ECC) statutory and legal obligations regarding registrations which are set and overseen by the General Register Office (GRO), whilst also ensuring that customers receive a high-quality service.
The Role
The Registration Service delivers an effective Marriage Booking Service and centralised back-office administration including items relating to Citizenship, Ceremonies, Registrations and Approved Premises, as well as certificate reproduction. The Registration Assistant will deal with all customer enquiries, providing specialist advice, support, and excellent customer service to members of the public wishing to use the service.
The ideal applicant will have experience of working within an administration environment, with good communication and IT skills and the ability to embrace change. Delivering good customer service will be key to success in this role.
