The Scheme Project Manager [Planning & Safe Systems] will be responsible for supporting the project manager in the introduction of significant changes to how maintenance integrates with access planning to drive better use of safer access. They will be directly involved with improvements and efficiencies within the maintenance function in line with business needs. You will work closely with the programme team and maintenance teams including front line leaders.
These roles work within the Wessex Maintenance Infrastructure Projects Team, introducing programmes of change to deliver a safer and more effective Maintenance organisation.
We will consider offering this role as a Secondment Opportunity
1. Deliver individual projects or parts of projects in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), applicable Network Rail company standards, current legislation and procedures including HMRI guidance where appropriate.
2. Provide a professional, consistent and effective project management service including the use of performance indicators and project reporting systems in accordance with Railway Group and Network Rail’s company standards and guidelines.
3. Manage the development and delivery of change projects in compliance with company processes and procedures.
4. Manage tactical change and risks within the project life cycle for allocated schemes.
5. Assist or lead in the provision of a safe working environment in the execution of managed work.
6. Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
7. Manage the production of project management plans
8. Manage project budgets within agreed targets
9. Deliver regular progress reports on change projects, including relevant risks and issues, to the Programme Manager.
10. Promote and monitor the use of efficiency improvement methods.
11. Disseminate lessons learnt.

BPSS government standard pre-employment vetting requires Network Rail to screen a potential employee’s unspent criminal convictions and undertake 3 year career checks. All prospective candidates who have not been offered a conditional role by 16.01.2023 will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
