Job Description


Who are we looking for?

As an Electrical Design Section Leader, you will be working across a diverse portfolio of complex engineering projects in an inclusive and forward thinking team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, management skills and solid technical electrical design background.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Responsible for line management for an electrical design section
  • Work alongside the other Section Leaders and the Electrical Design Group Leader in developing the Electrical Design group as it grows
  • Provide in depth electrical design knowledge and experience to different teams and projects
  • Working on upgrades of legacy systems as well and prototyping and custom design and development of new systems
  • Coach and supervise less experienced staff

Qualifications


Essential skills, experience and competence required

  • Engineering degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive electrical engineering design experience and the ability to assess design work
  • Strong knowledge of electrical principles applied to electrical machinery and distribution systems
  • Proven ability to interact efficiently with people in a variety of different situations
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering electrical engineering projects
  • Good understanding of project lifecycles
  • Able to produce high quality work to deadlines
  • Flexible working attitude able to work as an individual or as a team member
  • Able to coach less experienced staff
  • Thorough understanding of governance, Health and Safety and compliance issues
  • Experience of working in a cross functional team with ability to interact efficiently with people in a variety of different situations

Desirable skills, experience and competence

  • Experience of working in a safety-dominated working environment
  • Experience in people management
