An exciting opportunity has arisen to embark on an innovative Neonatal Fellowship within Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). This post provides an opportunity to have tertiary neonatal as well as significant, protected, Quality Improvement (QI) and Patient Safety experience. Nottingham is the lead neonatal centre for the north of the East Midlands Operational Delivery Network (EM-ODN) with two neonatal units providing tertiary neonatal care, City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in a growing multidisciplinary improvement team within the maternity and neonatal service, contributing to innovations for sustainable improvement. The fellow’s role will include awareness and competence in QI methodology and building skills in change management. Specific project aims will be achieved through implementation of the Model for Improvement methodology, and will be supported by individual access to, and work with, the Trust Improvement and Transformation Team. Opportunities are in place to one-to-one shadow and work with the Associate Director for Improvement at NUH, and lead improvement practitioners. This fellowship is HEE supported, for 12 months from October 2023 and includes a particular opportunity to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate qualification in an area of allied interest and relevance to the post. This could be patient safety, leadership and change management, or healthcare improvement.
Working for our organisation
This position is suitable for out of programme (OOP) experience, with inbuilt opportunities to refine skills in safety sciences, patient safety initiatives in the organisation, and QI methodology. The Fellow will base this role on a personal background of some experience in QI and multiprofessional working, using this as a springboard to learn and develop. The fellow will have access to Trust QSIR (Quality, Safety, Improvement & Redesign) training alongside Chief Registrar and Patient Safety Fellow peers. This programme will equip the fellow with vital skills and knowledge towards their placement as a future leader in quality and safety. The fellow will be supported by senior clinicians with a special interest in quality and patient safety in neonatal care.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
