We require a driven individual who can deliver commercial solutions. You will be able to work to challenging timescales and manage multiple stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes for the organisation.
Having recently gone through Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) we have seen the amalgamation of 8 district/ borough councils and the county council into one unitary Authority. As an organisation we now embark on a significant transformation programme and procurement and contract management is at the heart of this. A key part of the role will be supporting the Senior Category Manager (Place) to identify cashable savings through consolidation, improved commercial strategies and effective contract management.
You will lead and coordinate the delivery of operational procurement and contract management activities.
You will have experience of working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders across both internal and external departments to ensure that all procurement and contracting activities are fit for purpose and provide value for money.
Place Category - covering the areas of Property Services, Housing, Highways and Transportation, Environmental Services and Community Development.
The post-holder will be expected to support the North Yorkshire Council Procurement and Contract Management Strategy, related regional and national initiatives and strategies, including social value and local procurement and supply chain development initiatives.
The post holder will support a team of staff and will need to work flexibly and innovatively, providing specialist procurement and contract advice and guidance to support the organisation deliver our forward procurement plans.
You will be a strong communicator, be self-motivated and have the ability to inspire and motivate others and demonstrate sound participation.
Candidates should have extensive experience in procurement, negotiation skills at the highest-level, in-depth knowledge and understanding of procurement legislation, and a relevant degree, or a professional qualification related to procurement (CIPS), or equivalent knowledge and experience.
