Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Sous Chef to join our team in Reading.

You will support the management of the catering operation on behalf of Sodexo and ensure the catering services are delivered at the exact requirement of our client. You will lead a high performing team of chefs and food service assistants, ensuring that all areas of the operation are working effectively across a five-day operation for breakfasts and lunch.

Main Responsibilities
  • To take responsibility for food production, to include craft team management / ordering commodities / assisting with stock takes / updating statistics and completion of Sodexo Compliance management systems
  • To provide strategy and innovation in line with commercial food and menu planning that improve the Company’s reputation for food quality and enhances client and customer experience
  • Be responsible for driving compliance of Health, Safety, Food Hygiene and COSHH regulations
  • Drive sales through centrally driven menu plans and promotions and ensure compliance through preferred suppliers within the agreed specification and to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial
  • Complete regular spot checks of kitchen services to ensure that the Company's documentation and administration procedures are carried out to the laid down standard and that the necessary weekly returns are completed accurately and sent to the appointed office on time. This may be electronically, paper-based, or both, as instructed
The Ideal Candidate

You will have a strong catering background and experience in managing and leading chefs and catering teams. It is essential that you have a pro-active attitude and can be flexible in relation to duties. The job also requires someone who can demonstrate that they have strong organisational and planning skills and have the ability to prioritise and manage their time effectively
