Overview

Arcadea CIO are delighted to offer the right candidate an exciting opportunity to gain the skills and experience needed to care for Learning Disabled individuals in a vibrant and creative environment, where no two days are the same.

The role will involve supporting members physically, emotionally as well as to engage creatively within our HUB Arts Studio for learning disabled adults.

We are looking for a creative and caring individual, who has a passion for disability equality and using the arts to improve the lives of learning-disabled people.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide support services

    • Encourage and support people to fully participate in HUB Studio creative workshops.
    • Encourage and support people to participate in decision-making about the service they receive.
    • Report any hazards that may pose as a risk to yourself or others to your Team Leader. Risk assessment is an ongoing responsibility for all studio staff.
    • Support other workers to undertake their work effectively.
    • Support people to establish healthy, positive relationships and maintain an environment that prevents challenging behavior.
    • Ensure members are supported in accordance with their individualised support plans.
    • Use aids and equipment specifically intended for each person.
    • Provide intimate care when and if required.
    • Regard all information about the person you are supporting in the course of your work as confidential to the organisation.
    • Maintain a clean and tidy studio space in accordance with infection prevention and control guidelines.
    • Prepare refreshments and assist with lunchtime preparations.

    Provide opportunities for development

    • Assist and encourage members to learn new skills in areas they have chosen under the guidance of workshop leader.
    • Facilitate the development of positive social relationships within the local and broader community.

    Work collaboratively with the workshop leader and other staff

    • Follow instructions to support workshop leaders to deliver creative sessions to members.
    • Attend and contribute to appropriate training and planning sessions.
    • Maintain up-to-date and accurate Person Reports.
    • Attend Supervision and Support session with your Team Leader as required.

    Use specialist communication skills

    • Identify how culture affects what people do, think and feel. Use that understanding when relating to the person receiving the service, their family and friends and work colleagues.

    Contribute to a healthy & safe environment

    • Handle emergencies within a level of responsibility. When accidents or emergencies occur make sure the person receiving the service is safe and calm.
    • Follow workplace Occupational Health & Safety instructions and procedures.
    • Participate and contribute to Occupational Health & Safety management issues.
    • If appropriately trained, apply basic first aid when needed.

Using their expert knowledge gained from time spent in the industry, we’ve tailored our programmes to use the most up-to-date tools and technologies so that the skills we create can be used directly in the workplace. As one of our learners, you’ll benefit from coaching, help and guidance from our dedicated team whose job it is to ensure your success. Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Apprenticeship qualification.


Required Qualifications

Maths and English, GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent

Using their expert knowledge gained from time spent in the industry, we’ve tailored our programmes to use the most up-to-date tools and technologies so that the skills we create can be used directly in the workplace. As one of our learners, you’ll benefit from coaching, help and guidance from our dedicated team whose job it is to ensure your success. Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Adult Care Worker Level 2Apprenticeship qualification, with training how to: Provide frontline care for vulnerable adults to within their own homes, daycare centres, residential and nursing homes and other healthcare.
