We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Criminal Justice Team Leader to join our Barking & Dagenham Service. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work flexibly and creatively to establish what is needed to have the most positive impact for all who are referred to our service.

Responsibilities:
About the role:

  • As part of a multidisciplinary complex needs/ criminal justice team, you will work collaboratively with Criminal Justice partners including, Police / Probation / and our complex needs criminal justice team in the borough.
  • Provide a seamless link between police/court custody suites, prison, and the community.
  • Provide information for courts and other criminal justice agencies of suitability for drug treatment interventions.
  • To work with service users either on a voluntary basis or as part of a court, police, or probation requirement such as DRR, ATR/RAR.
  • To deliver services across a range of bases, including Probation/court/police stations.
  • Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users.
  • To ensure the quality and consistency of service delivery across all locations within Barking and Dagenham to support the staff team to deliver a high quality recovery service to residents of Barking and Dagenham.
  • Empowering staff to promote hope, empowerment, choices, control, and opportunities that assist service users reaching their full potential as individuals and community members.
  • Work with your team and Designated Safeguarding Lead (if not your role) to ensure that the practices within the team/service enable identification of service users, children and families who are at risk. Ensure that staff are competent in the delivery of interventions that reduce risk to service users.
  • Work effectively to engage with local partners to review, develop and evolve pathways, agreements and collaborative working to support those with complex needs in the Borough.
  • Support staff to improve service user outcomes through observed practice, providing timely values-based feedback.
  • The role will require Saturday working on a rotational basis with a day off in lieu
  • Operational line management of a team of staff which includes supervision (with reflective practice), appraisal, performance and sickness management as well as ensuring staff follow CGL and external policies applicable to their roles
  • Lead on the recruitment, selection and induction of staff
About you:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience
  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field ideally within criminal justice.
  • Knowledge and experience of developing and leading health and social care services and delivering services which evidence high performance and quality standards
  • Significant experience of leading teams who work with families where children are subject to social care intervention
  • Knowledge of current legislation surrounding children, young people, and safeguarding practice
  • Able to lead, inspire and develop a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to use common MS Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards.
