Key Responsibilities:

• Machinists proficient in properties of metals and in using shaping machines, milling equipment, and grinders for manufacturing precision test samples in accordance with quality requirements
• Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping and focus on ensuring a safe and efficient working environment
• Provide support within the machining workshop to fulfil business requirements
• Operate machining equipment in a safe manner, in accordance with instruction and manufacturers guidance
• Maintain a clean workspace, free of hazards
• Maintain traceability throughout the machining process
• Ensure that the quality output is commensurate with the requirements of the business
• Report equipment/ instrumentation failure to senior staff member to execute remedial action and thereby ensure continuity of service.
• Maintain organised and auditable systems of work to ensure compliance with UKAS 17025 accreditation.
• Delivery of allocated daily tasks within defined timescales to maximise operational outputs and efficiencies.
• Rudimentary appreciation and understanding of laboratory techniques and equipment to assure minimum quality and health and safety requirements are achieved.

How to be a successful candidate

To be a successful candidate we are looking for someone who has experience working within a material testing facilities or worked within an engineering environment and are able to use multiple precision machining solutions in a production setting then this is the role for you.

GCSE Science/Mathematics/English, or equivalent, grades A to C or further education in science or engineering would be advantageous
