Job description

As a Test Engineer, you will be a key member of the agile delivery team, delivering software components using Pega Customer Service Platform. Working as part of a scrum team you will have a lead role in testing services that have a positive impact on our users.

You will develop skills to enable delivery of stories in a multidisciplinary team. On the job support will equip you with the skills needed to become proficient in different types of testing.

Person specification

The responsibilities for this role include, but are not restricted to the following;

  • Utilise your experience in platform architecture and testing Pega based HMRC solutions.

  • Understand and test the build of business requirements into functional technical solutions using out of the box capability.

  • Have an understanding of the links between HMRC Enterprise Services and the Pega Frameworks and share this knowledge with others.

  • Operate and showcase products to a high standard.

  • Work in conjunction with the System Architect to understand user stories.

  • Provide testing input and recommendations on design and document simple programs or scripts.

  • Adhere to the correct level of governance and assurance. Ensuring the technical solution delivered matches the customers functional requirements.

  • Identify faults in code/build by making use of debugging tools and techniques and arrange for re-testing.

Essential Criteria:

The successful candidate will be able to meet the following essential criteria (This is the criteria you will be assessed against during the selection process)

  • Resilient and able to work in a challenging, changing and fast paced environment with multiple shifting priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills, communicating technical and business matters clearly.

  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to create test evidence.

  • Experience of Agile delivery.

  • Comfortable under constructive challenge, acting as a critical advisor to achieve solutions which are fit for purpose.

  • A self-starting approach, professional with a strong team and work ethic.

  • A continuous learning and development ethos.

Desirable Criteria:

A ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing or willingness to undertake the qualification.
Experience of working with Pega products.
