An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Professional Development Assessor, based on North Division.

As a Professional Development Assessor, you will be personally responsible for the internal verification of student portfolios for Probationary Police Officers, identifying underperformance and those requiring additional support or further training. You will hold regular development meetings with new constables and their Divisional tutors to ensure students are making the required progress for both the Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP) and PEQF entries (DHEP/PCDA) and any other subsequent entry routes.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate substantial and credible experience within the operational policing environment.

In order to successfully fulfil this role, the post holder will require excellent verbal and written communication skills to guide and support the creation of development plans; produce written reports for tendering in respect of regulation 13 performance hearings; conduct 1-2-1 progress meetings with student officers and to provide feedback to Tutor Constables on the quality of provided evidence.

You will partake in assessment standardisation processes with colleagues and work as a tactical advisor to Tutor Constables and Divisional Supervisors on all matters of assessment and performance. It is therefore essential that candidates either hold or are prepared to work toward a relevant assessment / verification qualification.

Working under the Professional Development unit (PDU) Sergeant as part of that team you will play a key role in managing new officers through their probationary period of service, supporting the allocation of tutors, and assisting and supporting the staff responsible for these officers by training, coaching, and mentoring new tutors to developed them. It is therefore desirable for candidates to have experience in coaching or mentoring.

With a sound knowledge of what the organisation requires of a new Constable, you will assist in managing the transition for officers arriving on Division from Kent Police College, and in delivering further developmental

inputs to Student Officers as required, it is therefore desirable to hold or be willing to work towards a formal training qualification.

In order to be able to support the completion of student performance reports a current understanding and working knowledge of Force Crime and Data Management systems is essential.
