Job Description

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Combined Authority for a Lead Auditor in Greater Manchester (Hybrid) to plan and deliver audit or assurance assignments in a range of different areas that could include social care, regeneration and financial systems. The range of audits may be tailored and varied but will all require excellent planning, risk awareness, communication, teamwork and evaluation skills.

ROLE: Lead Auditor
LOCATION: Greater Manchester (Hybrid)
CONTRACT: 3 months (Ongoing)
RATE: £32+ per hour UMBRELLA
**Please note that this role is a hybrid working position**

The Role

  • Plan and deliver audit work, assignments, and investigations with a particular focus on complex, technical or sensitive issues.
  • To respond effectively to key risks and provide confidence and assurance where appropriate to identify opportunities for improvement in the systems of governance, risk management or internal control.
  • Develop and maintain effective, positive and proactive relationships with all relevant senior officers, stakeholders, members and external partners to develop effective business processes, policies and strategies.
  • Accountable for the development of policy and governance standards and procedures and will provide support and advice on matters affecting the organisation, budget, civil and protocol matters.
  • Ensure that robust governance measures are in place to enable effective organisational decision making

The Person

  • Will be Qualified, or actively studying towards CCAB accountant or a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA) or have knowledge of the statutory framework for internal audit and detailed understanding of internal audit principles and techniques, including appreciation of the CIPFA Code of Practice for Internal Audit in Local Government and the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards; and the aptitude to undertake a professional qualification such as CMIIA, CCAB and/ or other relevant qualifications.
  • Able to negotiate difficult agreements with wide impact; ability to influence or persuade internal or external stakeholders.
  • Has excellent time management skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising, preparing in advance and setting realistic timescales for own self and others.
