Job Description
Reporting to the Facilities Team Manager, the Facilities Officer/Caretaker will be based on site and will have overall responsibility for maintenance, porterage and cleaning services. The Facilities Officer/Caretaker will also ensure that all services are provided to a consistently high standard and assist the Facilities Management team in all areas required to meet the needs of both the business and the client. The Facilities Officer/Caretaker will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the team and may be required to take part in the out of hour’s on-call rota system.
Hours of Work:
- Monday to Friday, 6.30am-2.30pm
- 40 hours per week
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Planned and reactive maintenance as required. Responding to all allocated helpdesk requests ensure jobs are completed within allocated time periods.
- General maintenance and repairs to building fabric and associated equipment as necessary.
- Identification and reporting/repairing of defects and maintenance requirements.
- Porterage and caretaking tasks; including accepting deliveries, litter picking, weeding, removal of rubbish and the setting out of furniture to agreed timescales and standards.
- Supervision and induction of Subcontractors; ensuring safe working on site.
- Client liaison; including communication with the Head Teacher / nominated deputy.
- To make sure that all fire safety and health and safety regulations are adhered to eg testing of fire equipment and following the rules for evacuating the buildings and grounds.
- Carry out emergency cleaning as and when required.
- Ensure safe pedestrian access especially during adverse weather conditions.
- Carry out the normal operating and testing procedures for the hydrotherapy pool (Hob Moor only) – Training to be provided.
- Be a key holder to the school, including responsibilities for opening up the building and responding to emergency call outs as part of the on-call rota.

Desirable:
- Previous working experience within a school environment.
- Previous maintenance experience.
- Be First Aid at Work trained.
- Hold a Valid UK Driving license
