Job Opportunity: Go API Developer

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Go API Developer to join a dynamic technology company based in Scotland. As a senior engineer, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of server components for their innovative mobile app. This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented team and contribute to the success of a cutting-edge product.

Position Overview: As a Go API Developer, you will be responsible for the development, documentation, and operational support of the server components. Your expertise in Go and GraphQL will be essential in ensuring the smooth functioning of the platform. Working closely with the Head of Engineering, you will also contribute to the development and maintenance of two React web apps used for managing the service. Additionally, you will collaborate with the product and content creation teams to understand and meet their requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain server components using Go and GraphQL.
  • Manage requirements using Jira and maintain code repositories in GitHub.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps engineer to develop and maintain CI/CD processes and the GitHub pipeline.
  • Deploy web apps into an AWS cluster, leveraging your experience in building Go applications for AWS environments.
  • Provide operational support for the production system and lower environments.
  • Support clients as required, ensuring excellent service delivery.
  • Measure performance and conduct preventative maintenance of production systems.
  • Act as an integral part of the virtual team, actively participating in daily stand-ups and leading grooming and refinement sessions.
  • Work closely with Product Owners to define and shape the product design process.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a start-up or scale-up environment, preferably with exposure to B2B2C businesses or a combination of B2B and B2C.
  • Strong server development experience in Go, and familiarity with .NET or Java.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, capable of building rapport and trust with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, making sound decisions with limited information.
  • Resourceful and comfortable working within constraints, demonstrating a proactive and can-do attitude.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A passion for innovation and the ability to match the energy required in an early-stage business.

Location and Remuneration: This is a hybrid role, with approximately 80% remote work and 20% at the company's hub in Glasgow or Edinburgh, Scotland. Competitive salary and benefits package are on offer, commensurate with experience.
