Job Description
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic full time Dispensary Assistant to join our friendly team at The Pump House Surgery, Earls Colne.
The role is offered on a full time basis for 37.5 over 4 days (Mon, Wed, Thurs and Friday)
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- To ensure that the dispensary environment is welcoming, clean and professional.
- To greet and serve patients in a professional, friendly and sensitive manner.
- To ensure the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to patients.
- To accurately complete financial transactions with patients, ensuring that the correct records are kept.
- To file prescriptions in the relevant sections, and to count prescriptions and items periodically.
- To store dispensed medication packages on the correct shelves.
- To remove un-collected medications from shelves, dismantle them and alter patient records and stock levels accordingly.
- To systematically date check the dispensary medications and keep accurate records.
- To help dispensary staff with deliveries when required.
- To assist with repeat prescription requests
- To ensure that all mandatory training is completed punctually.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties that may arise during the day.

- A warm, friendly and professional attitude towards patients and colleagues.
- An ability to respond to queries in a sensitive and professional manner.
We are a well-established rural dispensing practice with a growing list size of 8000 patients. Our team is made up of GPs, Nurses, HCAs, Dispensers, Administrators and Management. We are also supported by a Clinical Pharmacist, Physiotherapists and a Social Prescriber. We are committed to quality and innovation within a positive and supportive culture.Earls Colne is a picturesque and historic village situated between Chelmsford and Colchester. The towns of Halstead and Colchester are about 3 & 10 miles distant respectively. There are mainline train services from Marks Tey and Kelvedon to London Liverpool Street (54 mins) and access to A12 at Kelvedon.
