Job Description

Global Head of Product Valuation Methodologies & VCG Digital

Valuation Control Senior Group Manager – C15

We are seeking an outstanding candidate to be Global Head of Product Valuation Methodologies & VCG Digital, reporting into the Global Head of Valuation Methodology for Citi.

Valuation Methodology is a specialist team within the Valuation Control Group (VCG), and one which is crucial and highly influential. This team focuses on a wide-ranging and evolving scope of initiatives, from known valuation and governance issues to areas of changing and emerging market practice.

The focus of this team is to investigate these issues, provide thought-leadership to senior management on their resolution, and to provide specific, practical and implementable advice on how to address the issues. Some of this involves the creation of new controls, implementation of new techniques, and the drafting of formal policy and other important governance documents, so senior-level experience of these disciplines is essential.

This role will provide expert thought-leadership on technical valuation issues across all areas of VCG’s responsibilities globally, and cross-product. The purpose of this team is to help ensure Citi has the most appropriate and complete valuation control framework across all areas of price verification, valuation adjustments and wider governance aspects. This role requires significant technical understanding of the debt and capital markets products traded by Citi.

The individual in this role will be interacting with Senior Management within Finance, Trading and Risk Management to ensure a methodologically strong valuation control framework, including focus on the application of consistent approaches across Citi. Specifically, this individual will have oversight of the Product valuation methodologies and change controls and be responsible for approving changes to those for Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Valuation Adjustments (VAs), working in partnership with the Global VCG asset class leads. The role will include significant focus on ensuring that the valuation methodologies remain appropriate for their use cases (e.g. product, model, market) and develop new or evolve existing methodologies in line with best market practice and / or as new products or market activity becomes apparent.

The individual will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of digital solutions to enhance the work performed by the Valuation Methodology and wider VCG teams, for example through workflow to enable trade activity to be used in observability assessments, and / or to perform significance testing, as needed for the Fair Value Hierarchy (FVH) and other IPV processes. The work will require technical expertise from a subject matter expert perspective across a broad range of asset classes to ensure the methodologies are appropriate for their intended purpose. In addition, a background in Python, KNIME, Power BI and other digital technologies that facilitate EUC remediation would be an advantage.

Excellent communications and negotiation skills are vital. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate an ability to communicate complex ideas concisely and effectively. The role also involves ensuring global consistency and therefore working with the Senior Controllers across the various regions.

This is a position for an experienced, dynamic, technically-strong leader, who can manage all aspects of the role.
