With 8 depots across the UK, M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions provide innovative plant and fleet asset management solutions across M Group Services. We provide our business with more than 9,000 vehicles and over 25,000 owned or externally hired plant assets.

As the Head of Procurement, you’ll get the opportunity to:

  • Confirm final approval before the procurement department proceeds to buy the essential goods and services
  • Reviewing and updating supply chain practices in line with company policies, standards, laws and regulations
  • Negotiating terms and prices with suppliers and freight companies, monitoring and assessing their performance and maintaining cost-effective practices
  • Analysing the supply chain data and solving any issues or putting alternative plans in place
  • Identifying and minimising risk by predicting the demand for products and adopting new technology with no interruption to the process
  • Achieving diversity in the number and characteristics of suppliers serving the organization.
  • Ensuring that all supplies or services will be delivered promptly
  • Creation & maintenance of a procurement plan to reduce costs.
  • Select the appropriate suppliers, ensure supplier performance, and make sure that the procurement policies and regulations meet the external and internal compliance required by the company.
  • Communication with suppliers to build a long-term relationship
  • Plan policies and procedures for efficiently, honestly, economically and productively purchasing goods & services for the operation
  • Monitor, review and analyse bids and quotes with suppliers, including the negotiation of service agreements and contracts
  • Establish essential guidelines for approving purchase orders, set purchasing policies, budget for materials
  • Oversee sources for purchasing supplies.
  • Guides the team when managing procurement projects
  • Direct, manage and carry out recruitment of team members, subject to agreed criteria
  • Train and appraise team members to ensure targets are met
  • Direct and manage the performance and development of team members
  • Delegate authority and responsibility to team with supervision, accountability and review
  • Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.

What you’ll bring?

  • Detailed procurement knowledge of asset management
  • Able to articulate clearly market conditions and background
  • Understanding of underlying matrices CPI/RPI and other metrics
  • Engagement at senior level with OEM’s and Manufacturers
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations and compliance.
  • Assertive with strong communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Extensive field knowledge
  • Extensive working experience within the purchasing departments of an appropriate industry
  • Skilled in strategic sourcing, project management, decision-making, negotiation, and price analysis.
  • Front runner in the field of procurement
  • Good collaboration skills
  • Good knowledge of the market, in addition to current prices and fair rates for goods
