This role requires to work at different sites across Reading.

Weekly Hours Worked: 08:30am to 17:30pm

Job Description:

Vocosa has an exciting opportunity for an IT Technician to help maintain, support and enhance the IT solutions we supply our customers. To be successful in this role you will need to provide high quality support to our users, ensure that our systems are properly administered, and develop existing infrastructure and processes.

You should be able to work independently and be flexible to changing deadlines. Reliability and adaptability are vital for this dynamic role together with exceptional interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Providing technical assistance to users who encounter problems with software, hardware, or other equipment.
  • Responding to requests for assistance through phone, email, chat, or in-person visits.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with computer systems, software applications, and hardware devices.
  • Documenting issues and solutions in a ticketing system or knowledge base for future reference.
  • Collaborating with other IT staff members to resolve complex issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records of support requests and resolutions.

To ensure that your systems are properly administered, your job duties may include:

  • Monitoring and maintaining the performance and security of computer systems and networks.
  • Installing and configuring hardware and software.
  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Conducting regular system backups and disaster recovery testing.
  • Ensuring compliance with IT policies and procedures.
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates and patches.

As you develop existing infrastructure and processes, your job duties may include:

  • Evaluating current IT systems and processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Developing and implementing plans for system upgrades, enhancements, and migrations.
  • Identifying and recommending new technologies and tools that can improve business operations.
  • Creating and maintaining system documentation, including policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborating with other IT staff members to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Providing training and support to end-users on new technologies and processes.

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Skills Required:

  • Full UK Driving Licence Advantageous
  • An understanding of IT hardware, Windows and Mac OS are essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in O365.
  • Experience in Google cloud for Education.
  • Experience in Group Policy.
  • Experience in Virtual Desktops / RDP connections.
  • Experience in TCP / IP Protocols.
  • Experience in Active Directory / other monitoring systems.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment such as servers/Desktops.
  • ECS card (can be applied for after the candidate is appointed)
  • Enhanced DBS and Security clearance checks will be carried out.

Training to be provided:

Estio apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry experienced training team. Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance.
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
  • Support the information systems needs for your business.
