Job Description
				 The housekeeper will ensure that patients are orientated to the ward/department alerting them not only to the physical layout but also to any routines, for example mealtimes. Also, how to use any bedside equipment, call bells, bed controls, television etc. 
 Assist the midwifery team in the maintenance of the ward environment for the benefit of the patients and staff. 
 Contribute to the wellbeing of the patient by assisting with their nutritional needs. 
 Ensuring that all stores items are available at all times 
 
 - Welcome visitors, and will receive and pass on information to others, whilst maintaining confidentiality.
- Encourage patients, relatives and significant others to provide feedback in relation to the quality of services and care provided.
- Liaise with Midwife in charge regarding food requirements of all patients and ensure that meals are distributed correctly and timely.
- Liaise with the catering department when necessary. Monitor quantity and quality of meals received in accordance with confirmed daily order.
- Ensure the patients meals are well presented and that they are given to the patients whilst the food is hot.
- Assist patients where necessary in choosing the appropriate choice of meals.
- Prepare food/dietary supplements as directed by nurse in charge.
- Order snack boxes if patients have missed a meal.
- Work at all times in accordance with infection control policies.
- Assist in ensuring the care and safe keeping of patients clothing and personal property. Ensuring that the patients have available to them basic supplies to meet their needs e.g. toiletries/clothing.
- At all times be aware of the needs of patients in relation to privacy and dignity and with regard to different cultures and religious beliefs.
- Ensure that the environment is clean and tidy at all times.
- Ensure the the stock and store rooms are clean and tidy.
- Ensure that the stock level is manage according to labour ward needs.
- Ensure that equipment is maintained and managed according to Trust Policy.
