At the University of Manchester Students’ Union (UMSU), we exist to support students. As a Learning and Development Admin Assistant at UMSU, you’ll be supporting staff to learn and develop, empowering hem to get better at their roles so that we can make student’s lives better.

As an organisation, we believe in continuous learning and development for all staff. The Learning and Development team exists to empower staff to grow professionally through learning. We also plan a year-round training programme, as well as additional training sessions (both internal and external). When we learn, we develop and when we develop, we get better at what we do which means that the service and support that we offer students in Manchester will only get better and better.

The purpose of our Learning and Development Assistant is to provide support to the team through delivering high quality admin support, creatively solving problems, analysis data from Learning Needs Analysis (LNA), creating and delivering training in-person training and co-managing our Learning Management System (eLearning platform).

The Learning and Development team also operates ‘JobShop’ (a UMSU service supporting students to find part-time work). We also manage the recruitment of all full-time and part-time UMSU staff. You will provide admin support for both functions as well.

What you'll be doing;

Learning and Development

  • Monitoring the JobShop, Jobs and Learning email inboxes and phonelines
  • Managing training/learning requests, researching options, coordinating with managers
  • Completing Learning Needs Analysis (LNA)
  • Planning and delivering internal staff training sessions
  • Co-manage our Learning Management System, StaffWise; creating content, creating bespoke learning pathways, adding and removing users, generating training reports

Recruitment

  • You’ll occasionally complete recruitment admin; supporting managers to write job descriptions, setting vacancies up on StaffSavvy (our people management software), advertising vacancies, monitoring the recruitment process, setting up interviews, sending job offers, completing right to work checks

JobShop

  • Creating job advertisements for our job board, Instagram and website
  • Reaching out to current and new JobShop clients to discuss advertisement options
  • Adding invoices onto our invoicing system, X365
  • Support the JobShop team with running an annual part-time jobs fair – getting clients signed up, marketing the event, on the day support, liaising with clients
  • Support the team with JobShop Agency admin - completing right to work checks, liaising with UoM departments, creating and editing staff rotas
  • Other duties as directed by the line manager

You’ll be a part of a new and growing Learning and Development team, working towards making pivotal changes to how the organisation learns and grows to meet the organisation’s goals as well as creating a positive learning culture.

We are looking for someone with excellent administration skills, great inter-personal skills (communication, engaging with stakeholders, problem solving), great creative thinking skills with a good ability to use their initiative. We also want someone who has experience in creating learning/training content.

Salary: £22,000 per year

Contract: Permanent, full-time contract (35 hours per week)
