Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate individual to contribute to and shape the future of the maternity service in Torbay and South Devon.

We are looking for a senior experienced dynamic midwife to join the team as a Matron for Maternity Services. We need someone who possesses strong clinical leadership with excellent communication and networking skills.

You need to be self motivated, enthusiastic and have a drive for continuous improvement in maternity safety and experience.

To provide clinical and professional midwifery leadership and accountability for the following clinical areas:
  • Delivery Suite
  • Antenatal and Postnatal Inpatients
  • Bereavement Services
  • Infant Feeding team
To have continuing responsibility for the management of cost effective clinical services in obstetrics and midwifery ensuring high standards of care are provided in line with corporate objectives.

To act as Maternity Safety Champion.
  • To act with professionalism and integrity, being a role model to those around us and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity.
  • To provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and to understand what our patients/customers need and be adaptable and responsive
  • To provide a high quality customer service which complies with relevant legislation and NHS Employment check standards.
  • To be honest and learn from mistakes and help to create a “no-blame” just culture where people feel able to share and learn from experiences together.
  • To work as part of a team demonstrating effective communication, and working collaboratively with colleagues inside and out of the department.
