Job Description
The Post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care and provide expert support for ward staff.
Will provide specialist advice on length of stay and implement discharge planning.
To develop communication pathways with other members of the Multidisciplinary team and Community Nurse settings.
Will be involved in audit initiatives, therefore, needs to be computer literate with skills in Excel and have an understanding of auditing.
Must be willing to work flexibly and cross site.
Working to manage his/her own caseload of patients, pre and post operatively whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure seamless service delivery, providing support to patients attending the Hospital for Breast Cancer Surgery.
To contribute in breast clinics, working alongside Breast Consultant, to assess wounds and manage seromas (ongoing supervision and training until competency gained).
To ensure patients and their families are fully aware of discharge plans. Length of stay advised once operation is planned. Give advice about recovery at home. District Nurse support will be given if discharged with drain or requiring wound review.
ERAS Specialist Nurse to undertake wound reviews, aiming towards an independent wound clinic.
