Contract: Permanent - Full-time: Pitman Shift Pattern - Days and Nights

The Role

Akon Security has staff working over a 24-hour period, 7 days a week in several separate locations, undertaking various working activities across the Southeast. The Operations Supervising team is responsible for ensuring that suitable staff are provided to our clients, that the welfare and safety of those staff are managed, and any issues are addressed. The team is also responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with our clients by exceeding their expectations and meeting their needs. The person appointed will be expected to provide an efficient and effective service and demonstrate a high level of professionalism and excellent customer service skills to all our clients and be flexible in their attitude towards their working day, subject to service requirements.

Key Accountabilities / Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct the local operations of the Akon personnel to ensure compliance with standards and operating procedures and the requirements of the contract.
  • Correct areas of employee underperformance by reviewing and implementing new processes and procedures where appropriate.
  • Effectively setting out goals and objectives for your security teams, including those for supervisory roles that may fall under your reporting line and structure.
  • Be responsive to the client’s needs and work in partnership with the client and other suppliers to support the delivery of the services.
  • Attend regular monthly meetings with the clients to review service delivery keeping meeting records for audit purposes.
  • Undertake site visits and building walks to monitor, support and direct security employees. Keep local records of your visits, findings, and corrective actions for audit purposes.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that procedures and briefings for the security staff remain current and up to date.
  • Resolve all operational problems within your operational area and prepare responses within established timeframes to all service complaints.
  • Build excellent, robust, and beneficial relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal support services.
  • Provide monthly data for measuring the performance of the contract (KPIs) and compliance with operating procedures.
  • Managing your area of responsibility, including providing support, absence management, recruitment, and rewarding employees as appropriate and conducting any employee disciplines or grievances in compliance with company procedures and your delegated HR authority level, and then submitting a written report of any communication to be stored on SharePoint.
  • Be responsible for managing and furthering your knowledge and understanding of the overall running and implementation of any operating systems and/or software programs used by the company and all Akon Staff.
  • Be responsible for the management of shift patterns, the authorising and planning of staff leave and management of sickness absence.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures relating to the role including laws and regulatory influences.
  • Attend local reviews and complete monthly variance reports on the performance of the contract and implement corrective actions to address adverse performance.
  • Ensure that audits are documented, and reports are provided for the Director of Operations. Ensure that all corrective actions are completed and recorded.
  • Undertake and implement one-to-one RPD assessments, and care visits for all staff, identify and respond to employee/subcontractor training needs.
  • Be proactive and make suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • “Cascade’ information to all members of staff, ensuring that you maintain good communications throughout the Akon management team and all Akon staff.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety ensuring that risk assessments are kept up to date and held locally for all security staff to refer to and at Head Office for reference.
  • To ensure appropriate records are maintained of accidents, incidents or near misses and maintain an accurate log of site restrictions/hazard identification.

Internal & External Relationships

Internal: Communication will occur on a regular basis at all levels within the organisation, including security colleagues, clients, and visitors (both UK and International) as required. This is very reactive and dependent on demand and incident type, as well as during general patrols whilst engaging with the clients to provide a visible and reassuring presence.

External: Kent Police, Fire Brigade and Ambulance representatives, contractors on site, service providers, students, and parents of students (both UK and International), and the general public.

Person Specification – Ideal Candidates

The person specification details the necessary skills, qualifications, experience, or other attributes needed to conduct the job. · 2 years of frontline Door Supervision or a Security Guarding License is essential, a CCTV Licence would be beneficial.

· A Full Clean UK Driving licence is required.

· Right to work unrestricted in the UK/EU.

· 5-year checkable work history or evidence to support any period of unemployment, self-employment or time spent in full-time education during that period.

· Health and safety awareness and knowledge.

· Excellent organisational and time management skills.

· Confident and professional working approach and appearance.
