We are looking for a committed enabler to provide support for a 26 year old adult living in the Newbiggin area to access the community. The young adult lives with his family. he has a diagnosis of autism, aspergus and ADHD and would prefer the person supporting him to have experience (formal or informal) of supporting people with similar needs.
The young man enjoys being out and about. He is an active member of the shore crew with the local lifeboat. He has a keen interest in lego and enjoys being creative when opening new packs. He enjoys swimming, bike rides and walking. The expectation is the enabler will be keen on being outdoors, supporting with bike rides, accessing swimming and eventually moving on to accessing the gym.
The young man has a development age of around 16 years old. He has some anxiety around crowded/noisy spaces but otherwise demonstrates a nature expected of a young man his age. He can be very talkative once relationships are formed and with topics that interest him. Somebody willing to spend the time building this relationship would be the preferred candidate.
There is medication prompting required within this role and relevant training will be provided.
A driver is not an essential; criteria, however, being able to access Newbigginby the Sea and having a willingness to use public transport would be essential.
