Job Introduction

As a Night Porter Supervisor at Sodexo in Royal Stoke University Hospital, Newcastle-under-Lyme, you play a key role in the daily running of the hospital, ensuring the safe transportation of patients, as well as equipment, blood products, and gas cylinders. You can also ease some of the stress that is frequently associated with hospitalisation by engaging in professional yet friendly conversations with patients, staff, and visitors. What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for supervision of staff, together with their personal development, reward and recognition, appraisals, health and safety, and communication of shared goals.
  • Ensure regular, ongoing and effective statutory and company training for all staff to maximise their full potential.
  • Liaise with all staff to ensure effective and meaningful communication.
  • Ensure that Labour targets are achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with company and Trust policies.
  • Ensure porters transfer patients in a safe and appropriate manner via means of walking, wheelchair, stretcher, or beds
  • Always conduct yourself professionally, and be aware of patients’ dignity and privacy when it comes to their personal information
  • Assist in the transfer of seriously injured patients from the ambulance/helicopter to the A & E department

What you bring:

  • Experience of supervising a facilities team
  • Recent and relevant team management and development experience
  • Strong ability to build professional partnerships and communicate effectively
  • Ability to analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions/approaches
  • High level of self-motivation
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
