Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Principal HSEQ Adviser to join our Consulting Highways team. With shared office space in Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol, Exeter and Warrington, we welcome applications from Principal HSEQ Advisers across these regions

National Highways, formerly Highways England, have named Amey Consulting as a Design partner to support the delivery of the largest and most comprehensive renewals programme that National Highways have ever launched. The £3.6bn Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) enables National Highways to procure Design and Construction services across the Strategic Road Network for the next 6 years.

You will be responsible for:

  • Building on the established management systems and forging positive links with the Client as required.
  • Developing, communicate and implement Health, Safety and Environmental awareness for all employees in line with the HSEQ Policies.
  • Proposing and monitor Key Performance Indicators to ensure that any necessary measures to continuously improve contract compliance and cost effectiveness can be identified and implemented.
  • Supporting managers in procedural and / or organisational changes to improve procedures such that changes are cost effective.
  • Develop and implement a coordinated approach to Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Work Package Plans

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in HSEA Management including an understanding of the legislation, issues, procedures and practicalities in terms of Health and Safety.
  • Have a good working knowledge and understanding of SHE legislation, BS EN ISO 9001, 45001 and Company Standards.
  • Experience in the execution of Multi discipline projects including outputs achievable in given timescales
  • Knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessment techniques.
  • Educated to NVQ 4 or higher qualification in related subject such as environment or safety
  • Member of a relevant professional institute.
  • Achieved or working towards CMIOSH.
  • Accredited HSEA auditor.
