Due to an internal promotion the position of Process Engineering Discipline Lead has become available to join our vibrant team based in Manchester.

Costain provides engineering services to the Energy, Water, Transport, Nuclear and Defence sectors. The Process Engineering Discipline primarily works on Energy Transition; Energy Resilience and Municipal Wastewater Treatment projects across the full engineering project lifecycle including Feasibility, Concept, FEED and EPC/EPCm Detailed Design project phases.

The successful candidate will be a member of the engineering management team and responsible for functional and line management of the discipline including capability, processes and tools, technical assurance and performance delivery.

Role Requirements & Responsibilities

• Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering & Chartered Engineer (MIChemE/FIChemE)

• Extensive process design experience in oil & gas and/or energy transition projects in an engineering design contractor/ consultancy environment

• Significant experience of major project delivery in a lead process role

• The role will report to the Head of Engineering and will be responsible for circa 25 direct and indirect staff and agency reports including Chief Process Engineers for Water and Energy Sectors

• Recruitment to ensure sustainable operation with an optimum balance between the use of staff and off-payroll workers

• Give advice and direction to ensure that the discipline delivers safe-by-design, sustainable, digitally enabled, cost-effective, compliant and technically sound process engineering outputs

• Work collaboratively with business development and work winning functions to develop and tender new opportunities, providing cost-effective estimates, identifying technical risks and producing compelling proposals

• Support the transformation of project delivery by driving innovation and continuous improvement in the development of new/improved work processes and tools

• Capable of carrying out complex task and problem diagnosis and the development of innovative technical solutions

• Champions Sustainability Safety, Health and Environment by putting personal safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do and helping the environment and communities to thrive

• Having integrity by always doing the right thing in the right way

• Must be customer focussed by striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating and meeting their needs
