Who are we looking for?

We are currently seeking experienced Project Managers for 7-month fixed term/secondment opportunities. As a Project Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering our plan to significantly reduce our environmental impact throughout Yorkshire. You will manage multiple projects within a £10m investment programme designed to quickly halve our current run-rate of pollution incidents. Working collaboratively with colleagues from Wastewater and across the business, you will define, plan, and drive projects critical to our regulatory and business plan objectives. These high-impact schemes require an individual who can take ownership and drive the required outcomes to time, cost, and quality, ensuring risks are managed effectively. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact in a short period of time.

What skills are we looking for?

As our Project Manager, you will be able to work within a partnering environment and form and maintain excellent internal and external working relationships. You will also:

  • Work at pace within a highly focused and motivated team.
  • Possess strong commercial acumen and programme monitoring and forecasting skills to ensure robust financial, project reporting, business-case creation, and return on investment analysis.
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude with drive and determination to resolve or escalate project risks and issues swiftly to the appropriate personnel and forums.
  • Understand technical and business issues to assist in developing projects that solve problems.
  • Have demonstrable experience in managing multiple projects and change within an operational environment.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally, ensuring effective communication plans.
  • Produce high-quality project and implementation plans, reports, project status, and ongoing change management in a moving environment.

Essential:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a track record of working in a multidisciplinary team, driving business excellence, and performance throughout project delivery. Holding a project management qualification, such as APM PMQ, Prince 2, or equivalent, the successful candidate will also:

  • Be a strong communicator, able to negotiate and influence across all levels of the business.
  • Possess excellent stakeholder management skills, both internal and external.
  • Be confident in creating and presenting information to a wider audience, conveying complex ideas that are easily understood in non-technical circles.
  • Have the skills to create strong, impactful business cases, securing investment and driving business benefits.
  • Demonstrate resilience, with the ability to manage fast-paced change across multiple disciplines, while managing conflicting priorities.
  • Be conversant with Microsoft packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects, and PowerBI.
  • Be IT-literate, capable of learning company-specific software to support project outputs, including Programme Management tools, Planning and Scheduling systems, Geographic Information Systems, etc.
  • Have a strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations and their application in a working environment.

In addition to the essential skills and qualifications, the following would be desirable:

  • Previous experience gained within the Water or Wastewater sector or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sector.
  • Experience in contractor management on site, as well as a wider awareness of Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations and relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Understanding of how the Water industry is regulated and able to articulate some of the present challenges facing Wastewater (for example, Pollution, Internal and External Sewer Flooding events, etc.).
  • Experience managing capital schemes through SAP Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) and Project System (PS) and using Enterprise Decision Analytics (EDA).
