Job Title: Project Officer for NEST

Location: Woking, hybrid or flexible working depending on candidate

Reports to: Development and Impact Manager

Salary: £26,000 FTE (25 hours per week)

Contracted for 6 months (with possible further 6 month extension)

Background

Police Care UK traces its roots back to 1926 and is the new name for the merged charities; Police Dependants’ Trust and the National Police Fund. Our mission is to reduce the impact of harm on police and their families.

Operating from our office in Woking, Surrey, the charity has been going through a period of change which has seen us transform from a traditional benevolent role to one acknowledged as a leader in the blue light sector.

We work throughout the UK at the strategic, local, and family level to deliver ground- breaking research and programmes to help our police cope with the traumatic scenes they are exposed to, individual projects in police forces to help improve wellbeing and a confidential programme of practical, emotional, and financial support to serving and veteran officers, staff and their families who carry the physical and psychological scars of public service.

Purpose of the role

This post holder will work in collaboration with the Development and Impact Manager and the Clinical Manager for Nest, our Trustees, staff, network of supporters and stakeholders to develop and manage a brand new project that aims to establish a sustainable national network of experienced therapists who can deliver effective and bespoke mental health treatment for emergency responders.

The Network of Emergency Services Therapists (NEST) will provide access to experienced professionals who, in turn, can access Continued Professional Development (CPD). This will be the first sustainable and collaborative model of treating mental health issues on the UK’s front line and is expected to be launched at the beginning of April 2023.

In keeping with the needs of a small team a flexible and can-do attitude will be essential.

Role description

  • Support the design and development of the Network of Emergency Services Therapists programme.
  • Deliver the day to day running of the network once established, including monitoring, reporting and any internal access requests by our therapeutics team.
  • Oversee external requests for access to the list, alongside recruitment of therapists to be on this list.
  • Support a CPD programme for therapists is developed by Clinical Manager, the specialist teams and external stakeholders and is effectively delivered on a quarterly basis.

Main responsibilities

  • Working with the Clinical Manager to check the credentials of therapists wishing to be part of the directory, and ensure timely assessments are completed by the appropriate teams.
  • Ensure the data within the directory as per GDPR and data protection guidelines, writing and updating policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Working with appropriate partners to develop appropriate policies and procedures are developed as part of the project, including complaints processes, recruitment processes, and access request process for NEST.
  • Work with Development and Impact Manager, and legal teams in supporting the development of legal and contractual agreements for organisation who wish to access the list.
  • Deal with requests from the Charity’s Therapeutics Team to find suitable therapists for Police Care UK .
  • To test and improve new processes, and/or IT systems developed as part this project.
  • Work with Clinical Manager, Communications Team, Welfare and Therapeutics Team and the Director of Research to support the development an attractive CPD programme is developed and delivered each quarter.
  • Work with external partners and stakeholders to ensure quarterly reporting is completed, and CPD opportunities are explored.
  • Interpret and produce statistics and reports on the programme, as requested by the Development and Impact Manager
  • To work with the charities’ communications team to identify potential case studies, support news articles and promotional materials on programme as required.
  • To complete all administrative duties this role requires.

Hours of work

The basic hours of work are 25 hours per week, spread over 5 working days although flexible and/or reduced hours will be considered. There will be an occasional need travel across the UK (including overnight stays) and to work some evenings, so flexibility is essential. The core responsibilities and duties should be carried out during weekdays.

The amount of out-of-hours work will be agreed with the Development and Impact manager on an on-going basis. Time off in lieu will be allowed in agreement with the Development and Impact manager and in line with the current European Working Time Directive.
