Full time - 2-year fixed term contract

Solihull is well known for its wealth of green spaces, parks, grassed areas, woodlands and urban trees. The future of our green infrastructure is dependent on our ability to manage these areas and assets in the right way, with the right people and skills in place to ensure Solihull is even greener for future generations to come.

Solihull Council have committed to planting 250,000 trees by 2030 through local engagement with schools, residents, businesses, and community groups including the Solihull Tree Wardens. Since the Planting Our Future campaign started in 2020, we have planted 51,000 across the borough and we are on track to plant another 25,000 in 2022/23.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Projects Officer to join our dedicated Forestry team. In this role you will be responsible for providing day-to-day operational supervisory and project management to deliver the Planting Our Future Programme. This will include responsibility for the supervision and deployment of resources, and the direct management of contractor staff. You will also play a key role in liaising with colleagues, community organisations and local businesses to ensure successful project outcomes.

To be successful in the role you will have

* Level 3 qualification or above, or be able to demonstrate extended relevant practical experience and knowledge in the role

* Experience of working on the operational delivery of Tree Planting initiatives and projects including promoting environmental and community initiatives.

* Experience of working with the community and partners.

* Inter-personal skills, able to engage, negotiate and influence a range of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

* Ability to use initiative and problem-solving skills to resolve conflict and ensure project objectives are met.
