We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a QA Software Manager, reporting to the Embedded Software Leader for Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D), within Grid Automation (GA).

The role will require working with the Scrum development team and product management team to create and execute test solutions, both manual and automated, for product releases.

You will work among a talented and motivated R&D team, applying technologies such as On-line Dissolved Gas Measurement (DGA), Bushing Measurement (Tan Delta and Capacitance), Partial Discharge (PD) detection (UHF & Electrical) and Fast Transient measurement.

The QA Software Manager will have experience in developing and implementing quality assurance programs, managing teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This will be an onsite based role.

Job Description

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in creation of a QA test organisation and execution of QA and testing processes, Test Strategies, Test Plans, defect tracking, reporting system and help to improve standardization of approach to test case design.
  • Provide technical leadership & guidance on testing aspects of project planning activities and timelines.
  • Identify opportunities and tools to automate the test process.
  • Guide the implementation of test automation where appropriate to improve test efficiency, repeatability, coverage, and accuracy.
  • Create detailed, well-structured and comprehensive test plans and cases.
  • Work with the Product Management and relevant stakeholders to understand desired product requirements, translation into engineering deliverables and execution.
  • Perform QMS related activities including writing process documents, product quality plans, development and test plans, requirement reports, performing audits, establishing / maintaining QMS for the local teams and Training and Awareness.
  • Triage and analyse the test results. Assist in prioritization and analysis of reported defects and work with development to facilitate timely closure.
  • Methodically review user stories, acceptance criteria and product requirements.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement procedures to improve the efficiency of QA test execution and implement change management processes.
  • Provide progress reporting, metrics, and analysis.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline or equivalent.
  • Experience in DevOps in a QA test organisation
  • Extensive experience as a manual and automated test engineer.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills and proven experience of leading, and working with geographically dispersed team
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Evidence of mentoring/coaching software team members.

Desired Criteria

  • Working Knowledge of the Agile Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience of Linux Operating system or RTOS environments.
  • Familiarity with Robot Framework and Selenium.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with HP ALM Quality Centre and Rally/JIRA
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline.
  • Ability to understand mechanical and electronic systems
